Sol Invictus Vineyard is a dream come true! After searching the Treasure Valley for the ideal growing location, we located a site perfect in orientation and soil to produce delicious wine grapes. With a sandy-loamy profile and plenty of air drainage, we have maximized our ability to reduce water irrigation and minimize application of sprays.
Idaho has an ideal climate – and the secret is out!
Vineyard
Location: Elevated bench on the north side of the valley with a south facing slope. Adjacent to the winery and tasting room.
Vines: Planted in 2015 with numerous varietals. We are focused on high quality, small case production. Our plantings include red varietals such as Syrah, Malbec, Merlot, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon. We even snuck in a private planting of Pinot Noir. Our white varietals include Riesling, Chardonnay, Viognier and the crowd-pleasing Gewurtztraminer.
Soil: Sand and loam. This is ideal for exceptional root development. Our soil has low organic material and with the dry season from July through October, we have tremendous control over inputs to the vines and soil.
